Lui Parish(just been named Emmanuel Parish)is only about a mile and a half from Fraser Cathedral. Darius drove Rick, Isaac,Dan(preached) and me very carefully down the road. Debbie,Ewa,and Erick went to Fraser Cathedral.
We were greeted by several clergy including Rev. Alex who is assistant pastor and also headmaster at Lunjuni School.
Before the service started, Isaac carefully walked Rick and me around Lui Parish telling us about the growing vegetation around the church and all the different fruits they have to eat during the rainy season. Isaac would say," This tree was planted by God", meaning that the people did not plant the tree such as the Lulu Tree, or the Lango Tree. Jack fruit (planted by man) takes 3 years before it blooms and was fairly young. We saw okra, maize and pumpkin growing in the garden all planted by man.
The church is beautiful with mahogany benches and pulpit built by the Dutch Mission Organization called Ephram. Dan preached a lengthier sermon(by our standards)because Isaac translated the sermon in Moru.
Our hands were washed and we were served hot chai(tea)and wrapped cookies, coke, sprite and cold water before we left for our compound.
It was a good morning.
