August 2013 Missouri led trip to Lui Diocese

The next mission trip to the Diocese of Lui will look a little different this time around. The team is split into two groups, each spending two weeks in Lui but overlapping a few days to "hand-off" projects. This longer total time in South Sudan is needed: one of the larger goals of this trip is completing the roof-less Luinjini School chapel.

Elsa will be at the Conference too

Diocese of Lund were invited to send a delegate to Salisbury Diocese's Conference held to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of their link with the ECS  Lund have nominated Elsa Foisack, who was in Lui in April 2012 with some of us Brits and with Deacon Susan Naylor from Missouri.  We are really looking forward to welcoming Elsa to Salisbury and the Blackmore Vale Deanery, as well as the great welcome we plan for Bishop Stephen.

Jeannie and Carrie have visas too

Jeannie Stevens and Carrie Lewis visit the South Sudan Embassy in London yesterday and were successful in obtaining visas so they can join the joint group with Missouri Diocese and Diocese of Lund to visit Lui this August.  Every little step along the way is something we give thanks for!

Bishop Stephen has visa - thanks for prayers

Thank you everyone who prayed with us for +Stephen's visa.  He emailed us just an hour or so ago to tell us that he has it and will be arriving in the UK on 7 June.  We are overjoyed.  


Elsa Foisack from Lund, who was in Lui with the Apr group is also coming from Sweden to attend the 2 day 40th Anniversary Conference 11 and 12 June, so we shall have quite a reunion.

Bishop Stephen's Visa Application - Prayer request

As I said below, Bishop Stephen of Lui bas been invited to be one of the ECS representatives to attend the Sudans - Salisbury 40th Anniversary celebrations.  The plan is for him to arrive in UK on 8 June and stay until 17 or 18 June, with 3 major events to attend in Salisbury and the remainder of his time will be spent touring and meeting people in Blackmore Vale Deanery.   He will be staying with Mike and me, whilst Jeannie Stevens, Pauline Batstone and our Rural Dean, Rev David Seymour…

Lui Celebrates 17 Years as a Diocese

The Diocese of Lui had its 6th Diocesan Synod between April 8th -10th 2013.  The Synod attracted members from all the seven archdeaconries of the Diocese of Lui as well as representatives from Juba and the Diocese of Mundri to the meeting at Fraser Memorial Cathedral.
