One of the things I remember best from the crazy months after Wayne was elected Bishop of Missouri and before his ordination and our move to St. Louis is the kindness and generosity of the people in the Dioceses of Missouri and Iowa in providing him with the many very expensive things bishops have to have. One of the issues related to the independence of Southern Sudan is currency. Right now, North and South share a common currency, the Sudanese pound. Around Independence Day, July 9, 2011, South Sudan plans to issue new currency because a shared currency won't make sense. The North has hinted that they may move to a new currency as well. FINALLY reached Stephen by phone! Not a good connection, so we did not do much other than exchange greetings. I assured him of the many happy expressions from his friends in this country, the Diocese of Missouri, the Diocese of Salisbury (Blackmore Vale Deanery), and the Diocese of Lund (Sweden). He sounds very happy! As am I. As am I.
