More About the Nominations

Below is today's message from Stephen with a bit more detail about the results of the nominating synod. We don't know yet when the election will be. What we do know is that the whole province is involved in electing, but the Diocese of Lui's votes are more heavily weighted, or they get more votes. I'm not sure exactly how it works, so if anyone knows more detail than that, please post. As for the nominees, of course many of us in the Diocese of Missouri know Stephen rather well since he…

And the nominees are...

This just in from Stephen Dokolo:

Thank you so much for keeping the Diocese of Lui in your prayers.

Our synod went well. The whole of yesterday was retreat and today is the synod.

The main purpose of the synod is to nominate candidate or candidates for the vacant

see of bishop for Lui.

Three names were selected and will be send to province for the elections.

Very Exciting News from Lui

If you've been to Sudan, you will know that I'm not exaggerating when I say this is very exciting news. Stephen wrote me this morning that Zain has activated the new cell tower in Lui, and our friends there now have mobile phone service! No more walks up the hill hoping for a signal, no more satellite phone from inside Lui!! It's a game changer, for sure. Of course we'll keep our sat phone for use in other parts of the diocese.

A Well for Lakamadi

A lot of you might be excited to know that the Diocese of Lui has asked us to try again to have a well drilled in the Lakamadi archdeaconry. Sumadhura tried in 2009, but their truck got stuck in the mud and they and the Lui administration found less soggy places to drill. Stephen Dokolo recently visited Lakamadi and said the need for a well is still great, so I have asked Sumadhura to drill one up there. If they are able to do that, this well will complete the original plan of the Diocese of…
